We had a chat with Ded. One of the bands that brings in their incredible debut album (MIS • AN • THROPE) a revival of the golden times of Nu Metal, but in a totally new style. Check the interview below:

NM4U –  Tell us a little bit about your story, how did Ded come about?
DED- It started because we wanted to hear a band that didn’t exist. We just wanted to make music for ourselves that we wanted to hear.   We started playing together around Phoenix and it all developed from there.

NM4U- I need to confess that I can not stop listening to your album. Tell us a little about the process of creating MIS • AN • THROPE
DED-It’s was a 2 year process of recording 40+ demos in AZ at David (Ludlow’)s studio then going out to John Feldmann’s place in California to refine the songs many, many times. A lot of sculpting and chiseling the songs into what we felt was a strong album front to back.

NM4U- What are your favorite songs from MIS • AN • THROPE?
DED-Well they’re all great to me for different reasons. Right now, in this moment – my favorites are: “I Exist”, “Anti-Everything”, “Architect”, and “Hate Me”.

NM4U- I saw a video of David & Joe talking about Korn, you guys did a tour with them this summer.  Please tell us about that experience and the best memory from this tour.
DED-Yes, we did the “Serenity of Summer” Tour w/ Korn, Stone Sour, Skillet & Yelawolf. It was an incredible run. The Korn dudes are some of the best people on earth. Beyond an honor to have them take us out. The whole thing was dope.

NM4U- You have participated in important festivals, playing alongside several big, consecrated bands. What has been the acceptance of the public and the bands for you at the big festivals?
DED-It feels like once you get to a certain level everyone is super cool and down to hang out. Everyone is more sure of themselves and professional. The crowds were nuts. The biggest shows we’ve ever played in our lives. Metallica was insane!

NM4U- Fred Durst directed the video clip of “Remember The Enemy”, and the final result was incredible. Was it your idea to have Fred as the director of the clip, and how did that come together?
DED-We were introduced to him by our manager Jordan Schur.  Fred also directed our first video for “Anti-Everything” as well. He’s done such great videos with Staind, Korn, Puddle of Mudd, etc. We sent him the song initially and hopped on a call or 2 and away we went.  It was a really good experience and he was great to work with.

NM4U- A lot of bands do not like to be labeled, but we are a site aimed at the “Nu Metal” genre, and a lot of our followers cheer you. What do you think of the genre Nu Metal?
DED – Well – it’s just like any other genre whether it be punk, hip hop, country… There is amazing music in all genres but as that music begins to grow it starts getting exploited by labels and other artists watering it down. The artists that we do appreciate in Nü Metal are the shit and we embrace their influence on us proudly.

NM4U- Have you been thinking of ideas for the second album yet?  Or is the focus for now just to keep working the tracks from MIS • AN • THROPE as long as possible?
DED-We are always thinking about new music and writing – but we are very much just focusing on pushing this album out to as many people as possible.  We’re going to stay laser focused on promoting and touring behind “Mis-An-thrope” for the foreseeable future.

NM4U- What message would you like to send to your Brazilian fans?
DED- We hope to come play for you soon! Thank you for supporting and keep in touch online until then
